At the heart of Hofshi’s work is a preoccupation with the phenomenon of time, from personal experiences of its passing to a broader perspective of its persistent unfolding on a geologic scale. This fascination is manifested both thematically in her works as well as in her material process.

Foregoing specific commentary on any one conflict or historic period, Hofshi’s multifaceted works offer more generalized reflections on the common core of all human struggle. For the most part, she seeks commonalities of experience that transcend nationalism and sectarianism, beyond her personal or historical circumstances. She laments the frequent loss of the necessary sense of responsibility towards our shared humanity as well as the lack of respect for the natural world that sustaining us.
